December 5, 2024 - World Turkish Coffee Day (1) - Beta Yeni Han

On December 5, 2024, World Turkish Coffee Day was celebrated with a very special event at the historic Beta Yeni Han - the place where coffee was first roasted in Istanbul in the 16th century - in cooperation with Turkish Coffee Culture and Research Association. Sponsored by Beta Gida, this event, held for the third time this year, featured enjoyable conversations about many coffee-related topics including coffee history and stories, coffee ceremony, and coffee brewing, attended by Fatih Mayor Mr. Mehmet Ergun Turan and numerous protocol members.

In the session, Turkish Coffee Culture and Research Association Chairman Mr. Nuri Colakoglu, Beta Gida Istanbul Branch Manager Ms. Hatice Ugur, and Arzum Electrical Home Appliances Chairman Mr. Murat Kolbasi participated as speakers.

On this important day, Istanbul's first coffee museum, Beta Yeni Han 1554 Coffee Museum, was also opened. Beta Gida, which opened the historic coffee oven discovered during the restoration of Beta Yeni Han as a museum, changed the fate of the historic Han hidden in the dusty pages of history. The Beta Yeni Han 1554 Coffee Museum, Istanbul's first coffee museum approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, aims to introduce visitors to coffee's rich history, production processes, and cultural importance.
